  1. Open the right Cardano account

Use the official Lace app or extension. Check that your ADA is in the account you want to stake.

Choose the instructions for your device

This guide is for Cardano ADA. Lace now supports other assets and staking features, so first select your Cardano account. Use the official Lace website’s download links and keep your recovery phrase private. ADAStaking does not connect to Lace or ask you to import a wallet.

Checked on 7 October 2026: the official releases list browser extension 2.4.2 and mobile 2.4.0. Chrome’s official listing also shows 2.4.2, updated 30 September. The instructions below come from Lace’s documentation; these wallet versions were not installed or transaction-tested for this guide.

  2. Find your pool in Staking

On mobile, tap Stake for your Cardano account. In the extension, open Staking and find the pool.

    • Open the pool’s details.
    • Match its full pool ID with the one you researched.

    In the browser extension

Lace’s browser documentation places pool selection in the Staking tab. Its older articles illustrate earlier releases, so use the current wallet’s preview if its controls differ. Do not assume the mobile buttons below also appear in the extension.

    1. Open the official extension and check the intended Cardano account, network and available ADA.
    2. Open Staking and find the pool you researched. Inspect the pool’s details and compare its full pool ID with your saved source; names and tickers can be similar.
    3. Continue to the wallet’s delegation review. Use the transaction checks below before deciding whether to sign.

In Lace Mobile on iOS or Android

Lace’s current mobile FAQ describes this route for a Cardano account that is not yet delegated.

    1. Open the Staking tab in the bottom navigation. Find the Cardano account you intend to delegate and tap its Stake control.
    2. Browse or search the pool list, open your chosen pool’s details and verify its identity. Continue only after checking its full pool ID and current pool information.
    3. Review the proposed delegation and displayed costs before confirming. After the wallet reports success, return to its staking overview to check the account.
  3. Check, then confirm in Lace

Check the account, pool ID, fee and any deposit before approving.

    • Check that the transaction confirms.
    • First rewards usually take 15–20 days if the pool earns them.

Before you approve, check these details

Your wallet’s preview is the place to verify the actual action and cost. Native ADA delegation keeps your ADA under your control; it is not a payment of your balance to the pool operator.

    1. Confirm Cardano mainnet, the intended account and the pool’s full ID. Check any existing delegation or allocation before changing it.
    2. Read the network transaction fee and any first-time stake registration deposit. Check the pool’s fixed cost and margin separately: these come from pool rewards, not a bill for the full fixed cost charged to each delegator.
    3. Approve only inside your wallet using its normal signing method. If you use a hardware wallet, follow Lace’s supported device connection flow; importing its recovery phrase into software is not the same as connecting the device.
    4. Check the resulting transaction status and, after synchronization, the account’s delegation. Record the transaction reference. A submission or success message is not evidence that a reward has already been earned.

After delegation or a failed attempt

First rewards normally take roughly 15–20 days, provided the pool earns rewards. A zero reward balance immediately after delegation is expected. When changing pools, allow for Cardano’s epoch-based activation rather than treating an old pool display as an immediate failure.

If the wallet reports a failure, inspect its transaction history before trying again. Keep the error and transaction reference, and consult official Lace help if the result is unclear. Do not share a recovery phrase with support.

  4. Before withdrawing rewards

Choose a voting representative, abstain or no confidence in your wallet. This is separate from your stake pool.

More detailLess detail about before withdrawing rewards

Check voting delegation before a withdrawal

Cardano requires an active vote delegation for reward withdrawals. Choosing a DRep, abstaining or expressing no confidence is separate from your stake pool choice; rewards can accumulate before that choice. Read the governance options in your current Lace version rather than registering yourself as a DRep just to withdraw rewards.

Sources and review notes

Documentation and official release listings reviewed on 7 October 2026. The mobile FAQ was inspected directly. No Lace app or extension was installed, no wallet was connected and no delegation was signed; the funded-wallet screens remain unverified.
